Dr Jack L Underwood

SCHENECTADY - Dr. Jack L. Underwood, 95, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 with his daughter at his side. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 13, 1928, son of the late Walter and Agnes (Nolan) Underwood. Dr. Underwood served in the US Navy from 1946-1947 and 1951-1954. He graduated from Howard University Medical College in 1958 and opened a private psychiatric practice in Schenectady in 1962. He served widely in professional and community organizations throughout his career. Dr. Underwood was also an avid tennis player and skier. He was predeceased by his son Jay, his wife JoBerta, and his sister Ann Schrader. He is survived by his daughter Janice, granddaughter, Alyssa Errico, and great-granddaughter Anastasia. A memorial celebration of Dr. Underwood’s life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady, 1221 Wendell Avenue, on June 14th at 4 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A live stream of the service will be available through http://bit.ly/uuschenectadyworship for those unable to attend in person. Burial will be private.
