Her family moved to Schenectady when she was a young child and she graduated from Mont Pleasant High School. She worked as a secretary at both American Locomotive and the Army Depot in Rotterdam. While raising her own family she was also a babysitter for many others. The Veivia household was always full of children and that's how Dot liked it. She was a long time member of the Lynnwood Reformed Church, where she sang in the church Choir and participated in many church activities. She was a member of the Festival of Praise Ecumenical Choir (Festival of Celebration) since its inception in 1970, and sang alongside her sister, Shirley. She was an avid reader, loved jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed family get togethers and spent countless summers camping in the Adirondacks. She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband of 67 years, John Harold Veivia.
