Dorothy Mae (Curcio) Mancini

Rotterdam - Dorothy Mae (Smith) Mancini, 85, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after being admitted on May 8thwhen she suffered a fall and strokefollowing the fall.Dorothy lived in Rotterdam all her life. She was the daughter of the late George and Marietta Curcio Smith. Dorothy graduated from Draper High School and later from SUNY New Paltz. She received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from SUNY Albany. She was employed as a Librarian with Schenectady County working at the Wingate Branch and also on the Schenectady Bookmobile. Dorothy was in charge of the children’s program doing crafts and reading to children. She spent many winters in Florida where she volunteered at the New Smyrna Beach Museum. Dorothy also loved the NY Yankees and always tried to watch their games. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Mancini, whom she married on September 30, 1972. Louis died in 2003. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Marjorie and Vincent Natale. She is survived by three step children,Marion (Paul) Overbaugh of Edinburg, NY, Joseph L. Mancini of Rotterdam and Joan M. Rudzianski of Springville, PA; seven grand children,Jeffrey Overbaugh of Edinburgh, Melissa Spencer of Broadalbin, David (Jessica) Overbaugh of Hagaman, Robert Mancini of Arkansas, Louis Mancini of Rotterdam, Joseph Lee (Brittany) Mancini of Springville, PA and Sarah Boner also of Springville, PA; six great grandchildren,Jackson Overbaugh and Rebecca Overbaugh of Hagaman, Alex Hunsinger, Angelia Boner, Ephraim Mancini and Aleyah McCuller, all of Springville, PA;sisters in law and brother in law,Ann Denvir, Marion Rocco and Rosemarie (Donald) Sorenson and her good friend Maryanne Brand of Rotterdam. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave.on Saturday from 11 am to 12 noon. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam. Donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
