Dorothy Danowski

Schenectady, NY -It is with sadness the family of Dorothy Danowski announces her passing on Sunday morning, April 30, 2023.

Dorothy Laura Danowski was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931, daughter of the late Louis and Emily “Margaret” Kersten and sister to the late Louis Kersten and the late Edward “Sonny” Kersten.  In 1951, she was united in marriage with her love, Edward Robert Danowski, who preceded her in death.  Together, they raised three children, the late Edward Danowski, Joseph Danowski and wife Lisa (nee’ Serapilio) of Rotterdam and Darlene LaValle of Long Island.

She was known as nana to her beloved grandchildren, Emilie Danowski (Michael Spencer), Eddie Danowski, Kayla Valderama (Josh); great grandchildren, Lila Vause, Michael Spencer, Jr., and Deyanara Spencer.

Nana loved spending time with family, she especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.  She has been known to arrive with Christmas packages that would rival Santa’s sleigh!  She was a passionate NY Mets fan, loved to garden, watch crime dramas and old movies.  A feminist ahead of her time-outspoken and always dressed to perfection.  Our hearts are heavy, we hope you are at peace.

Funeral services will take place in her hometown where she will be laid to rest with her husband.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6-8 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.  Kindly consider memorial offerings in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
