Rotterdam – Dorothy E. Cotugno, 92, passed away Friday July 22, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in Schenectady she was the daughter of Martin and Elena (Ippolito) Capullo. A lifelong Schenectady area resident Dorothy worked at the General Electric Co., building 273, retiring in 1991. She will be remembered for taking such good care of her home which included decorating for the holidays. She also enjoyed the casino with her niece Elaine Crandall and also shopping with her daughter Phyllis. Dorothy liked spending time doing puzzles and watching her beloved New York Yankees. Her greatest joy centered around her family and being with them at family gatherings. Her husband, Anthony Cotugno, passed away in 1988. She is survived by her two children Michael (Lynn) Cotugno and Phyllis (David) DelVecchio. Three grandsons Joshua (Kate) Cotugno, Brandon DelVecchio and Jordan DelVecchio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband Dorothy was predeceased by her grandson Adam Cotugno and 12 siblings Charles (Nancy) Capullo, Matilda (Jerry) Ranze, Mary (Anthony) Valletta, Frank (Anna) Capullo, Edward Capullo, Louis (Carrie) Capullo, Alice (George) Lunick, Armand Capullo, Ernest (Marion) Capullo, Paula Capullo, Eleanor Capullo and Harvey Capullo. The family extends their special thanks to the Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 am Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady. Burial will follow at St. Cyril’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Luke’s Church food pantry.
