Dorothy H. Burns, 83, of Guilderland, at rest with her parents, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Schenectady, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Peter and Louise Brandolino DiBartolomeo. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1947. Dorothy worked as a Bookkeeper and Secretary for the former Selected Meat Packers in Rotterdam for over 20 years before she retired. After her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed spending many happy summers boating on Lake George and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and going to casino's. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also predeceased by three brothers; William, Joseph and John DiBartolomeo, and her sisters; Angeline DiCerbo and Carmella Valente. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard J. Burns, two children; Patrick (Jane) Burns of Scotia and Kathleen (Bill) Barner of Ballston Spa, two sisters; Elizabeth Scavello and Mary Pallutti, both of Rotterdam, four grandchildren; Lisa (Al) Articolo, Jason (Bridget) Burns, Michael (Paola) Barner and Daniel Barner, three great grandchildren; Brianna, Nicholas and Matthew Articolo. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 to 10:30am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel's Church. Burial will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Dorothy's family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Costello, the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Peter's Hospital and Hospice Inn for their caring and compassionate care.
