Dorothy F. Bowdish, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Glendale Home in Glenville, N.Y. with her beloved husband of nearly 60 years and her daughters by her side. Born May 23, 1947, to Eugene and Dorothy B. Krawczak, she was the proud twin of Johnny, and that always made her feel special. Dorothy grew up in Princetown, N.Y., and shortly after graduating from Schalmont High School, she married Floyd Bowdish, the love of her life. They lived in their Rotterdam home for more than five decades where they raised their three daughters. Dorothy loved this home, and was always watching the boats make their way up and down the Mohawk River. She loved word search puzzles and was an avid collector of many different types of recipes. As a stay-at-home wife and mother, she took pride in preparing meals and ensured there was a freshly made dessert to end the day, preferably something chocolate. She was also very artistic and spent countless hours tole painting and displaying her talents at local craft fairs. As the grandchildren arrived, she enjoyed being a part of their world. Together in retirement, Dorothy and Floyd enjoyed many trips to Maine and Cape Cod to visit New England lighthouses, camping throughout New York and New Hampshire, wintering in Myrtle Beach in their RV, and spending time with family.
Dorothy is survived by husband Floyd; daughters Jennifer, Karen, and Chrissy (Tim); her six grandchildren, Joshua (Olivia), Matthew, Andrew (Jessica), Nathan (Sydney), Bailey (Mike) and Christopher; sisters Mary, Annie, and Judy; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, twin brother John, and son-in-law Dave.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Glendale Home for their compassionate and loving care during Dorothy's time there. Your dedication, support, and kindness made a difficult time easier for both Dorothy and our family.
A private service will be held at Saints Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam to celebrate Dorothy's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Dorothy's honor. Arrangements by DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. Condolences can be posted at demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
