Dorothy M. Almond, 90, of Schenectady passed peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2016. Dorothy was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Gustino and Philomena Paoline Mastro. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and was employed as a Keypunch Operator at General Electric retiring in 1987. As a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Dorothy always enjoyed volunteering at the annual Mt Carmel Festa. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also predeceased by her husband, Luther J. Almond Jr, who died in 1997, her sister; Yolanda McDonald and brother; Rudy Mastro. She is survived by four children; Luther J. Almond III, and his wife Susan, of Hamburg, NY, Janice M. Ostrander, and her husband Steve, of Rotterdam, Michael J. Almond, and his wife Suzanne, of Schenectady, and Eric Almond, and his wife Kathy, of Scotia,two brothers;Glen Mastro of Schenectady and Gustino "Sonny" Mastro of Vermont , her sister; Sr. Norina Mastro of Schenectady, eight grandchildren; Kristin (Michael)Byrne, Luther J. (Megan)Almond IV,Michael (Kara) Ostrander, Lori (Sean) Marry, Joseph Almond, Eric Almond, James Almond and Alec Almond , 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, 8:15 from the funeral home followed at 9 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN, 38101-9908.
