Rotterdam - Dorothy Anne Mancini, 92, of Rotterdam, NY peacefully passed away on Sept 12, 2019. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Mycek and the beloved wife of the late Alfred Mancini. She was born in Amsterdam and while an infant the family moved to Mariaville. She attended Mariaville Central Rural School and Draper High School, graduating from the former Wilbur Lynch High School after her parents moved back to Amsterdam. After graduation she worked at the Scotia Naval Supply Depot and General Electric Company until 1955 when she left to marry and raise a family. In 1969 she returned to the work force to work at the Schenectady County Community College working in the Begley Library and retiring as Executive Secretary to the Library Director with 24 years of service. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband and family, and in later years was an avid reader. She shared 51 years of marriage with her beloved husband Alfred J. Mancini who preceded her in death in 2006. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Clara Szwetkowski and Joseph Mycek. She leaves behind her beloved daughters TinaMarie Mancini of Colonie and Nancy Henderson and her husband Thomas of Weedsport, her cherished grandchildren, Bradley, Christine, and Eric (Caitlyn) Henderson. She is also survived by several sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. A period of mourning will be observed on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady, NY, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Dorothy Mancini.
