Doris J (Dedrick) Edwards

Niskayuna - Doris J. (Dedrick) Edwards passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2014 at her home in Niskayuna, NY. She was born on June 15, 1924 in Newark, NJ.She married Robert Edwards, her high school sweetheart, in 1945.Doris, known to everyone as Scotty, worked at the Curtis Wright propeller factory in Fairfield, NJ during World War II.She liked to knit, read and play Mahjong.After Bob's retirement, they travelled the country in an Airstream trailer and settled in Charlestown, New Hampshire.During the winter months they travelled to Eufaula, Alabama where they played golf and socialized with a group of special "snow bird" friends from all over the country and Canada. Scotty is predeceased by her husband Bob, the former police chief in West Caldwell, NJ, her daughter, Susan (Grant) and her sister Carole Borthwick.She is survived by her sister Joanne Price, her brother Thomas Dedrick, her son Robert, Jr., her grandchildren Kevin Grant, Jennifer Barnett, Jason Edwards, Ryan Edwards and eleven great grandchildren.In her last years, her great grandchildren, her "babies," were the light of her life. A memorial service will be held on January 17 at 11am at the Dancy Ippolito Funeral Home at 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell, NJ.
