GUILDERLAND - Doreen Saltsman, 85, passed away as peacefully and gracefully as she lived, following an illness on Thursday February 6, 2025.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years, Rushton Park Saltsman; her parents, Rosamond and Martin Seeley; and her brother, James Seeley. She is survived by her siblings, Martin (Linda) Seeley, Marcia Seeley, and Rodney (Debbie) Seeley; her children, Steven (Dondi), Bethany (Frank), and Michael; and her cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Timothy, Kaitlyn, Alexander, Benjamin, and Evan and many nieces and nephews.
Doreen was born in Little Falls, New York. She earned her nursing degree from Faxton Hospital and went on to serve as a dedicated RN. She spent much of her career as the Intensive Care Nurse Manager at Ellis Hospital, where she was honored with the Nurse of Distinction award in 1992. Nursing was her passion, and she took great pride in her work, inspiring many family members to follow in her footsteps.
Beyond her career, Doreen was an avid reader who loved bargain shopping, traveling, all things chocolate, spending time with her family, and carefully selecting the perfect cards and gifts for her loved ones. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, rarely missing a soccer, football or lacrosse game, swimming or skiing lesson or dance recital. She was always there for anyone in need, offering advice, a place to stay, or unwavering emotional support. A generous soul, she contributed to many charitable organizations throughout her life.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the amazing Hospice nurses Betsy,Tera and Emily who cared for her in her final days and to her best friend of many years, Carol Vitello, with whom she worked as an RN, traveled, shared countless phone conversations, and who supported the family through this difficult time.
