Dorcas Conley, 90, passed away Monday October 20, 2014, peacefully in the care of the loving staff of the willow unit at the Capital Living Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY.. She was born on January 26, 1924 in Schenectady, and was a long time resident of Rotterdam. Dorcas is survived by her husband; Carl Conley, her daughter ; Deborah (Jeffrey) Flora, grandson; Dan, and very special extended family; CaraPalleschi, Steve and Parker Lachanski, Melissa Palleschi, Tanner and Peter Duguid, along with her loving granddog, Travis. She is also survived by sisters Nida (Tiny) Pecoraro of Scotia NY. andNaida (tootsie) Fisher of Alexandria Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews, many other special friends, and the Greatest neighbors in the world. She was employed for many years as a teacher's aide at MohonasenJunior High School. Dorcas was a compassionate and avid supporter of the children who were a special part of her life.Always in the front row of a Little League baseball or CYO basketball game giving the referees a hard time, cheering on her grandson in lacrosse and football, never missing a soccer game, dance recital or school concert and always encouraging a balance between academics and sports. In order to continue facilitating her love for children and her care for their futures, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rondout Valley Athletic Booster Club - Mitch Gleich Scholarship Fund, c/o Henry Gleich CPA, 144 Pine Street, Suite 210, Kingston NY 12401, or to honor her devotion to the town of Rotterdam and the services that support it, contributions may also be made to Rotterdam District 2 Volunteer Fire Department, in memory or Dorcas Conley, 1400 Curry Rd, Rotterdam, NY, 12306. The family wishes to acknowledge the exceptional and compassionate care provided by Connie, Patty, Mary; along with so very many other staff of the former Dutch Manor and Capital Living Nursing Homes. Services are private. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at the convenience of the family.
