Donna F. Vrooman

ROTTERDAM - It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Donna Vrooman on Sunday September 15, 2024 at her home.

She was born on October 4, 1946 to Donald and Jane McGinn. She was raised in Ballston Spa, graduating with the class of 1964 and continued her education at Spencer Business and SUNY Cobleskill. She started her career at General Electric Co.

She met her love of her life, Alan Vrooman and they were wed in 1971. She took time off from work to be a stay-at-home mom to their son, Michael Vroomam. The joy of her life. She was a devoted and caring wife and mother. To her these were the two most important roles in her life.

She returned to work part-time at St. George’s Episcopal Church until her retirement.

She loved the home she and Alan built together, a log cabin in the woods. Her dream home. She found much contentment in reading, gardening, crafting, hiking, biking and time spent with friends for meals and playing pinochle and Canasta. She loved nature and could never pass-up a sea shell or pine cone to bring home. To her, family and friends were a blessing and gift to be cherished.

Donna was predeceased by her father, Donald McGinn, she is survived by her mother Jane McGinn; husband Alan Vrooman; son Michael Vrooman; her brother James McGinn (Robin) and their family.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donna’s family on Friday September 20, 2024 from 4-6 pm in the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave. Rotterdam. The interment will take place at 11 am on Thursday, September 26, 2024 in Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to Community Hospice 310 S.
