Donald Anthony West

Schenectady – Donald Anthony West, 90, passed away Wednesday September 5, 2018 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Born in Cohoes he was the son of the late Norman and Bertha Forgette West. Don was also predeceased by his brother, William West. A graduate of Cohoes High School, he then went on to serve our country in the Army Air Corps. Don retired from the General Electric Co. after 32 years in the M&P Lab. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and was a lifetime member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157. Don will be remembered as someone who loved parties and playing golf at Stadium Golf Course. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Connery West. They would have soon celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Three daughters; Cindy (Lou) Carusone, Wendy (Doug) St. Andrews and Janet West (Steve Forsthoffer). Two granddaughters; Michelle Carusone and Karen (Paul) Sokolowski. Five great grandchildren; Kylie Gursky, Colin Gursky, Jacob Sokolowski, Clara Sokolowski and Malia Carusone. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 10 am-12 noon at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A prayer service will immediately follow at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
