Schenectady - Donald G. Fields, 85, of Schenectady passed away at home surrounded byhis loving family on Monday, November 28, 2022. Born March 31, 1937, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late George and Clara Fraking Fields. Don graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Schenectady and attended Siena College and University at Albany. Don was a fireman for the city of Schenectady Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Association, 50-year member of Knights of St. John Commandry 100 and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Don was an avid reader. He had many interests including history and stamp and coin collecting. He worked at WGY Coin and Stamps in downtown Schenectady for many years. Don was also a passionate fan of the NY Mets. His knowledge of just about everything and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Alice Ward Fields, and four children Karen Corona, Donna De Neuville, Donald M. Fields, and Charlene Boynton-Carter (Joseph). He had eight grandchildren, Felicia Irvine(Lucas), Kacie Corona, Cameron, Logan and Jordyn De Neuville, Lucas (Ciara) and Zackary Boynton and Nicole Fields, and two step-grandchildren Ryan and Sydney Carter. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren Jackson and Waylon Irvine. He was excited about welcoming a new great-granddaughter in the new year. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 9am-10am at St. Joseph’s Church, 600 State St., Schenectady, NY 12305, followed by a mass of Christian burial beginning at 10am. Don will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
