Dominick J. DiNola We are sad to announce the passing of the patriarch of our family, Dominick J. DiNola, 94, on March 7, 2018. Dominick was born in Schenectady on September 19, 1923. He was the son of the late Frank and Theresa Rossetti DiNola. Dominick was also predeceased by his brothers; Benjamin DiNola and Frank “Butch” DiNola and sisters; Mary Haman and Josephine Lucas. Dominick is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary Siatkowski DiNola. They were married for 70 years. He is also survived by his brother Alfonso “Funzy” DiNola (Angela) of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and sister in law Diane DiNola of Rotterdam as well as several additional brother and sisters in law. In November 1947, Dom and Mary were blessed with a daughter, Donna Marie (Brian Cummings) whom they adored and doted on joyfully. Sixteen years later, they were surprised, and blessed with another daughter, Marianne (Keith Baratier), and started child rearing again. They have four grandchildren; Deana Constantino, Ronald Cummings (Paola), Danielle Baratier and Gabriella Baratier and three great grandchildren; Rachel Constantino, Adrian Cummings and Luca Cummings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dominick attended Mont Pleasant High School and worked for a short time at General Electric before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged in 1946. Dominick returned to General Electric following his discharge from the Army. One of the many projects he was involved with was the first nuclear power project with Toshiba Electric. He retired in 1983 with 42 years of service. Dominick was a 32nd degree mason and was very active in the Masonic Temple for 60 years, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Schenectady. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, horse racing at Saratoga and spending time at the casino with his wife Mary and vacationing at the Jersey shore with his family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services at the funeral home on Monday, 11 am with Rev. Matthew van Maastricht , of the Altamont Reformed Church, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org. Finally, the family would to thank the supportive staff at the Schenectady Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation for their love and compassion and for being a second family to Dominick.
