Stuart, FL - Dominick "Sonny" J. DiPietro Jr., passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Dominick was born in Media, Pennsylvania on May 21, 1933, the son of the late Dominick DiPietro, Mary Grace DiPietro-Murphy and his step-father Daniel Murphy. He was a graduate of Draper High School in Rotterdam, NY in 1950 and attended Siena College in Troy, NY. He married his beloved wife Doris on January 28, 1956. Dominick retired from the United States military, having proudly served our country both in the Army and Air Force for 34 years. He later worked for the United States Post Office retiring in 1987 relocating from Guilderland, NY to Stuart, FL. Dominick was an avid reader always carrying a book with him, playing bocce ball and bowling. He was an avid music lover and accomplished accordion player. Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Doris, his daughters Evelyn Tinkham of Scotia, NY and Fort Myers, FL, Donna (Keith) Jenningsof Broadalbin, NY, Linda Russo of Fort Lauderdale, FL and his son Dominick (Pam) J. DiPietro, III of Scotia, NY. His 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and soon to be born first great-great grandchildren. Dominick was predeceased by his daughter Susan Deloach and his son-in-law Raymond (Sandy) Tinkham. Funeral services on Monday, August 29, 2016 will begin at 11 a.m. from the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
