Rotterdam-Domenico Pascarella, 78, was called home to God on Saturday, October 27, 2012. Domenico was born in Valle di Maddaloni, Italy. He was the son of the late Tommaso Pascarella and Marianna Cirillo and was the youngest of six siblings including Vito, Concetta, Francesco, Antonia and Aniello Pascarella. He was educated in Italy and journeyed with his wife Antonia and two small children Annalisa and Tommaso to America in 1970. Domenico and his young family settled in Schenectady, where he was proudly employed by General Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Domenico was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Many of his friends remember Mimi for his love of soccer, Italy and family. Domenico was a loving husband, father, nonno and a special person to all who knew him. He was the beloved husband and is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Antonia (Giaquinto) Pascarella. He was a wonderful father to his daughter Annalisa Pascarella (Mertz) and her husband John Mertz and son Tommaso Pascarella and his wife Oriana Pascarella. He was a very special Nonno to Giuliana and Giancarlo Mertz; and Sebastian and Luca Pascarella. He is also survived by his brother Aniello Pascarella of Valle di Maddaloni, Italy; a brother in law and several sisters in law; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who still reside in Italy. Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 1, from 8:15am to 10:15 a.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Those in attendance may follow in procession to an 11 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1260 Pleasant St., Schenectady. Entombment will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park, Gifford Church Road, Rotterdam. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Domenico`s name to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Domenico`s family extends a special thanks to the Rotterdam Police and Paramedics, Rotterdam Emergency Ambulance and the Medical Staff at Ellis Hospital for their compassion; Mimi will be missed.
