Diane E. Singleman

August 17, 1948 — August 15, 2024

ROTTERDAM - Diane Elizabeth Singleman (Pone), aged 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 15, 2024 surrounded by her devoted family. Born and raised in Schenectady, New York, she was the daughter of the late Anna and Frank Pone and her brother Frank Pone. Diane was a graduate of Mohonasen High School and St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing. Throughout her nursing career, she served as an operating room nurse at both Ellis and Child’s hospitals, as well as in several medical offices in the Capital region. She retired in 1993, following 11 years of dedicated service as a school nurse at Mohonasen High School. Her nurturing spirit and warm smile will be fondly remembered by countless students and her colleagues.

Diane enjoyed boating, family trips to Disney World, and going on cruises. Her latest adventure was a cruise to Hawaii with her beloved husband of 54 years, Alfred H. Singleman and dear friends to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. Diane played an active role in Submarine Vets since her husband served in the Navy. Additionally, she worked diligently as the reunion coordinator for the U.S.S. Francis Scott Key SSBN 657 for 20 years. Diane’s greatest joy was found in spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether they were traveling, baking, or participating in various activities together. Diane worked for Wildwood after retirement caring for her grandchild Charlie, who is diagnosed with autism.

Diane's legacy lives on in the cherished moments she created with her family and friends, the radiant smile she imparted, and the affection she showed to her loved ones and pets. The recipes she shared ensure that her children and grandchildren's homes are filled with the delightful aromas of her presence. She consistently set aside time to bake her noteworthy chocolate oil cake for every birthday, prepare spaghetti sauce for cozy winter evenings, and make anisette cookies for Easter celebrations.

Diane is survived by her beloved husband Alfred H. Singleman, her son Scott Singleman (Stephanie), daughter Lisa Bradley (Robert) and grandchildren: Kristen Singleman (Christopher Carlock), Katelyn Singleman, Sabrina Dougan (Haley Casler), Bethany Bradley, Charlie Singleman, Henry Singleman and Elliot Bradley and nieces Nikki Pone and Brittney Leifer and sister-in-law Carolyn Schleicher.
