Dewey C Grant

Rotterdam- Dewey C. Grant, 85, of Rotterdam passed away on Saturday November 4, 2017surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Meridale NY in 1932 a son of the late George and Rachel Grant Dewey served in the United States Army during the Korean War being honorably discharged in 1954, He married the former Catherine Rose Roberts and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until she passed away on December 23, 2016. He was a member of the Schenectady Moose Lodge, the Quaker Street Volunteer Fire Department and the Duanesburg Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Dewey loved camping, fishing, crossword puzzles and backyard cookouts with family and friends. He is survived by his children Chris (Medina) Grant of Schenectady, Cerese (Robert) Rykowski of Esperance, Todd (Karen) Grant of South Carolina, Paul (Wendy) Grant of Guilderland and Brian (Tina) Grant of Duanesburg. Lori (Edd) Rose of South Glens Falls ,Tina (Mike) McLaine of Rotterdam and Kevin Grant of Rotterdam and his best friend Mike Ashley, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dewey was predeceased by his siblings Shirley Brady, Helen Neidhammer and Walter Grant and his daughter in law Lynn Grant. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg on Thursday November 9, 2017 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. Immediately following funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Central Avenue Colonie Donations made be made to The Community Hospice.
