Delores Hutton entered into rest on August 28, 2024 at the age of 85. Delores Hutton was born in Mineville to the late Fred and Pearl Genier and raised in Rotterdam, New York. She attended Draper High School. She met the love of her life, Donald (Brad) Hutton Sr. They married and made Schenectady their life long home.

Delores was devoted to improving the quality of life in the City of Schenectady, New York.  For several decades her leadership helped promote programs, initiatives, and policies to revitalize "The Electric City." Delores served for years as the President of the Bellevue Neighborhood Association, and President of Schenectady United Neighborhood, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Schenectady Neighborhood Assistance Program, which targets the problem of urban blight.

Delores took pride in representing the voice of the people, lobbying for improved police relations and code enforcement; as well as, redevelopment of the City's downtown. She spearheaded the restoration of a dilapidated railroad (Broadway) overpass, and had led efforts to enhance local parks and improve street lighting.

Throughout her life, she has been an active volunteer, working with disabled children, assisting battered women, organizing church youth networks.   She was honored as a Community Hero by both the City of Schenectady Mayor’s Office and Council.  In 1996, she was given the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch through downtown Schenectady, that she had worked so diligently to improve.  In 2003 she was honored as a “Woman of Distinction” by the New York State Senate.

She cherished her family and was a loving wife to the late Donald “Brad” Hutton Sr., who preceded her in death.
