Schenectady - David T. Schettine Sr., 87, of Schenectady died peacefully at Glendale Nursing Home on February 15, 2019. Born in Scotia, David was the son of the late Carmine and Carmella (Vinciquerra) Schettine and was a lifelong area resident, who enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, watching sports, and betting on horses. David retired from the Schenectady Fire Department in 1977 after 24 years of service as a firefighter/inspector. David was known among his colleagues for his sense of humor and cooking talent. He was a long time member of the Schenectady Permanent Firefighter’s Association, Trinity Presbyterian Church in Scotia and the Rotterdam Elks. Predeceased by his parents, his wife of 56 years Elizabeth A. Mallory, and sister Rosemarie Tupman. Survivors include four sons; David T. Jr of Kalispell, MT; John (Linda) of Cobleskill; Michael (Lori) of Delanson; and Daniel (Anne) of Schenectady. David is also survived by a brother Paul (Barbara) of Patchogue, NY and a sister Tommasina (Peter) Carlson of Wilmington, MA. David was blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Monday from 9-11 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. An 11 am service will immediately follow. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. The family expresses their gratitude to Glendale and Hospice staff for their loving care of David.
