Greensboro, NC - David Paul Rhodes, 48, ofGreensboro, NCand formerly of Rotterdam, New York, passed away and finally found peace on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Born on March 17, 1974 in Niskayuna, NY, he was the son of the late Paul and Donna Marr Rhodes. David proudly served our country in the 82nd Airborne division 504 Parachute infantry regiment in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg. During his time in the military, he was deployed to Korea and other places to defend our country and left the Army as a Staff Sargent. David earned numerous medals including: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, and the Parachutist Badge. Always wanting to help others, David went on to college after the military and became a respiratory therapist starting out in the NICU at Duke University and later transitioning to providing care to those that needed CPAP machines and ventilators in the home. David loved spending time with his two sons, hiking and being outdoors. He enjoyed Ultra Running and Power lifting. He had a passion for sports that included, football, basketball, baseball, and tennis and was an avid Yankee fan. He also enjoyed cooking and baking. Those that knew him loved him and David will be greatly missed. David was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Donna Rhodes. He is survived by his sons, Grayson and Tyler Rhodes; sister, Debra Berube and her husband Ron; his two nephews, Nicholas and Logan Berube; uncle, Gary Marr and his wife Sue and their children, Heather Marr and Thomas Marr and his wife Rachel; a close childhood friend, Eric, who was like a brother and was cherished by David; and numerous other friends. A visitation will be heldon Sunday from 1-3pmat the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home,1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. A service honoring David will beginat 10am on Monday morningat the funeral home. David will be laid to rest with military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemeteryat 12:30pm.
