David A. Laurenty

GLENVILLE - David Allen Laurenty, 78, of Glenville, passed away peacefully on Monday February 12, 2024, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on December 27, 1945, in Albany to Dorothy Jane Phillips and John Ernest Laurenty, he was the eldest of four children and was raised in Scotia, NY. David attended Scotia Glenville High School before joining the United States Army in 1965. David proudly served in the Vietnam War and was a member of the 500th Engineer Company Panel Bridge in Vietnam. David was employed at General Electric after his honorable discharge from the US Army in 1968. He worked with GE until 1988 when his division was sold to Insulating Materials Inc. In 1995 David joined Von Roll Isola USA until his retirement in 2008. He was the manager of the Systems Test Lab and the Von Roll Isola Liquids Tank Maintenance Program. He worked for over 36 years and was a part of several publications related to his field. David was extremely proud to be an American and a veteran. He was an advocate and supporter of Veterans of the Armed Forces, including the Tunnel to Towers program and the Glenville Capital Region Veteran’s Memorial Park project. He also supported St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the ASPCA and the APF. David was a member of the Scotia Glenville Senior Center and enjoyed outings and photography and taking hikes with the photo group. He loved his country, his family, his cat Sammy and all things nature. You could always find David with his camera around his neck capturing precious family moments or simply taking in the pure beauty of wildlife. David enjoyed fishing, canoeing, camping, country music, being at the lake and spending time with family and friends. David was predeceased by his mother Dorothy (Phillips) Laurenty, his father, John Laurenty, and his sister Carol (Laurenty) Monroe. David is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Beverly (Purzycki) Laurenty, his daughter Laura (Greg) Lawless, his son David M. (Brooke) Laurenty, his grandson Keith Lawless, granddaughter Molly Lawless and his grandson Connor Laurenty. He is also survived by his brothers, Kevin Laurenty and Chris Laurenty, along with many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to his graveside service at St. Cyril’s Cemetery in Rotterdam NY on Monday, March 4 at 11:00am. Guests are welcome after the services at 1 Waverly Place Clifton Park, NY 12065. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Region Veterans Memorial, Trustco Bank, 286 Saratoga Rd.
