David A. Disarro

November 8, 1946 — August 17, 2023

LATHAM - David A. DiSarro, 76, passed peacefully at home with his family on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

David was predeceased by his parents, Alvino and Rose. He is survived by his loving and beloved wife of more than 52 years, Susan, his adoring children, Lisa, Anthony (Kimberly), and Gina, his siblings, Richard (Ann), Eileen, and Robert (Sheila), as well as numerous nephews and nieces, and the light of his life these last four and a half years, “Papa’s best girl,” his granddaughter, Gloria Rose.

David grew up in Schenectady’s Goose Hill neighborhood, where he made several life-long friends. He graduated from Linton High School in 1965, where he played football and met the love of his life, Susan. After high school he served in the U.S. Army as a Demolition Technician stationed in Frankfurt, Germany and received a National Defense Service Medal for his skills as an M-14 Sharpshooter. After his service in the Army, he returned to Schenectady, married Susan, and enrolled at Schenectady County Community College where he graduated with honors. He then began his career as a master carpenter and a custom home builder, building and renovating hundreds of homes throughout the Capital District up to Vermont, and his final job before his official retirement, his daughter’s home in Spencertown, NY.

David enjoyed spending time with his family, living by the ocean in Florida, completing sudoku and crossword puzzles, watching (and betting on) horse races, eating delicious food (much of which was made by his wife, such as the scungilli salad on Christmas), and defeating his children at trivia. He was a very intelligent, kind, down-to-earth man, with a great sense of humor who was loved by many, and he will be intensely missed.

A celebration of life service and calling hours will be held on Friday, August 25th from, 10 am to 1 pm at Demarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave. Rotterdam

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
