David P Dearbeck

David P. Dearbeck, 74, of Schenectady, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Hudson Park Nursing Facility, Albany. He was born Thursday December 12, 1946 in Otsego, NY, son of the late Jack and Marjorie (Thorpe) Dearbeck. He graduated from Burnt Hills Ballston lake High school and then went into the Navy to serve and protect our country. After 35 years at the Post Office he retired. He was a loving and devoted Father and Grandfather who never hesitated to spend time with his family. He was an avid hobbyist and enjoyed collecting and working with model trains. He was excellent with carpentry and woodworking, a fantastic and creative cook, and blessed with a green thumb. He collected movies, music, tchotchke’s etc... He loved animals of all kinds. He was a fan of science fiction and especially strange facts about the world, and did not believe that death was the final word. That our life here is not the end but the beginning of something greater. He is survived by his son David (Robyn) Dearbeck, and daughter Bridget Leonard (Dearbeck) ; grandchildren, Destinee Mae Dearbeck, Connor Dearbeck, Christian Dearbeck, Devon Dearbeck, Alyssa Dearbeck, and Darren Dearbeck; and siblings, Deyrel (Norman) Smiarowski, Donna (Richard) Colombo, Elaine (John) Hogan, and Jane Dearbeck. He was predeceased by his brother James Dearbeck. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 19 from 5pm-7pm at Demarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 20 at 11am with full military honors, at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Saratoga, NY.
