David S. Briggs

David S. Briggs, 64, of Glenville, NY, passed away at home with his loved ones, after a battle with occupational cancer related to 30 years in the fire service.

He was born in Albany in 1961 and adopted by his loving parents Vernon and Carole Briggs. David attended Scotia-Glenville High School before studying at Schenectady County Community College. David started his passion of public service, first in the volunteer sector, before pursuing career opportunities first at KAPL and eventually at the Scotia Fire Department, where he retired as a Fire Captain. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and anything else he could do in the woods. David most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Carole Briggs. He is survived by his brother William Briggs, his life partner Peggy Mocny, children; Scott Briggs (Lauren), Stephanie Halcomb (Michael), Jacob Briggs (Kasey), Erin Mocny (Joshua) and Brianne DeLuca (Christopher). He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren; Aubree, Jasper, Adeline, Lucas, Olivia, Konrad and Jackson.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday March 10th from 1-4 pm at DeMarco-Stone Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam

A 4 pm prayer service will immediately follow to conclude the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Schenectady Firefighter’s Cancer Foundation in David’s name.
