July 9, 1929 — December 24, 2022

Schenectady– Dante “Dan” Anthony Massaroni entered peacefully into eternal rest on December 24, 2022 at the age of 93 “years young”. Born on July 9, 1929 and raised in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Ignazio and Luisa (Papetti) Massaroni. He attended Nott Terrace High School and joined the Army in 1946 serving in post-WWII Japan. Upon returning to the United States, he was the proprietor of a Texaco gas station on Erie Boulevard. He was then employed by the City of Schenectady where he went on to become the head of the Department of Consumer Protection/Weights and Measures, retiring from that position in 1989 after a long career. Dante lived a rich life filled with family and fun. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and along with his brothers, a founder of the Amity Bowling and City Hall Golf leagues. He was also involved in many political campaigns including that of President Eisenhower. He traveled on multiple occasions to Italy, Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas. One of his biggest thrills was bowling a perfect 300 game at Sportsman’s Bowl in 2013 at the age of 84! Even more than all of his accomplishments and adventures, his greatest joy was his family and sharing his homemade wine at meals, visits, and holidays. His family will gratefully treasure all of the memories and toast his legacy. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Gloria (Gabriele) Massaroni; son, Dan (Deborah) Massaroni; sister, Norma (Richard) Silaika and sister-in-law, Yolanda Gizzi.
