Concetta N Grant

Rotterdam, NY. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Concetta Norma Cerniglia Grant "Connie," who left us peacefully on April 22nd, 2025, at the age of 94. Born to Salvatore and Rose Dagastaro Cerniglia, she was a loving mother to Carol, Mike (Tina), Bill (Gina), and Tim (Kathy). Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Affectionately known as “Gramma” to her grandchildren, Erin, Amber, McKenzie, Ben, and Chris, she was also the proud great-grandmother to Carson, Addison, Shane, and Olive. Always engaging and full of joy, she would get right down on the floor to play with them, laughing with her whole heart, smiling through every moment. She was married for over fifty years to her beloved husband, the late Robert Grant, with whom she built a life full of love and cherished memories. Sunday dinners at their home became a treasured family tradition, filled with stories, laughter, and Connie's delicious Italian cooking. She was the last surviving of nine siblings—Vincenzo, Frank, Armadeo, Angelo, Abele, Beniamino, Carl, and Mary—and was adored by many loving nieces and nephews, several of whom remained close to her throughout her life. Strong, compassionate, and deeply devoted, Connie always put others before herself. She went to work at a young age to help support her family and faced life’s many challenges with grace. Whether helping a neighbor in need or offering a comforting presence to a struggling friend, her kindness extended far beyond her own home. She always found true joy in the simplest, most meaningful parts of life—seeing a beautiful sunset, listening to rain hit the roof, sharing meals with family and friends, a child's laughter. You would often hear her singing an Italian tune or whistling throughout the day, a gentle reminder of the beauty she found in everyday moments. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered by all who had the gift of knowing her. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4-7pm at the Demarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at 10:00am at the Funeral Home. Burial to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
