Clyde W. Childs Jr, son of the late Clyde Childs Sr. and Eva Hayward Childs, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Clyde was born in Albany, NY on June 12, 1932. He graduated from Gloversville High School and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Clyde spent 20 years in the clothing business followed by 26 years working for New York State. He retired from the New York State Department of Health in 1995. His beloved wife, Patricia, passed away in 1997 after 46 years of marriage. After his wife died, he spent eight years as a volunteer working at the Hospice Clinic at St. Peter's Hospital. Previous to that he served as a member of the Guilderland Board of Education. Clyde also was a member of the Town of Guilderland Conservation Counsel. He was a member and past president of the Saratoga Battle Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Clyde was also a member of the St. Patrick's Lodge #4 F&AM of Johnstown, NY for over 50 years. In addition to his wife, Clyde was also predeceased by two brothers, Fred Childs and Doug Childs. Survivors include two sons; Garth (Barbara) Childs of Berne, NY, and Christopher (Cathleen) Childs of Morrisville, NY, five grandsons; Nicholas (Christine) Childs of Bridgewater, NJ., Casey (Sarah) Childs of Guilderland, NY., Matthew (Christine) Childs of Newport, NY, Zachary (Ashley) Childs of Clinton, NY., and Ethan Childs of Morrisville, NY., three great grandsons; Andrew, William and Aiden as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 21 Hackett Blvd. Albany, NY. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 am at the church.
