Clyde H. Bascue, Jr, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18th, 2026. Born on July 13th, 1964, in Schenectady, New York, Clyde lived a life defined by intelligence, creativity, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved.
A loving and devoted father, brother, grandfather, fiancé, and loyal friend, Clyde was known for his quick wit, sharp mind, and remarkable sensitivity. He had an extraordinary ability to make people laugh while offering thoughtful insight and genuine compassion. Whether someone needed guidance, technical advice, or simply a good story, Clyde was always the one to call.
In his youth, Clyde was an avid speed skater. He loved fishing and developed a lifelong passion for music and photography. His talent behind the camera earned him recognition as a respected portrait and lifestyle photographer, capturing moments with authenticity and heart. His love of fishing led him to invent a fly fishing reel, for which he earned a patent — a testament to both his creativity and engineering skills.
Clyde worked as an engineer for many years before recently retiring as a logistics manager at Benet Laboratories for the U.S. Army Abrams Tank Program, for which he developed an additional patent. Throughout his career, he was admired for his innovation, dedication, and problem-solving brilliance. He took great pride in his work, his family, and the passions that filled his life.
He is survived by his sons, Mitchell H. Bascue (Skylin) and Mason T. Bascue, his fiancé, Marilyn Tralongo, his brothers, Kenneth Bascue (Richard), Dean Bascue (Brenda), and Robert Bascue, his granddaughter, Katalina Bascue, his lifelong friend, Paul Watson, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde H. Bascue, Sr. and Georgia Bascue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 12:30 PM, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union Street, Schenectady, NY. Calling Hours will be held from 10 AM until Noon, prior to the Mass, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Schenectady.
Burial will be privately held by the family.
