Rexford- Claudia B. Ungerland, born December 6, 1950, was called to her home with the Lord on May 13, 2013 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center after a four year battle with bone, lung and eventually brain cancers. Claudia is resting in peace with many loved ones that have been called Home before her; including her loving parents, Gilda and Em Battalino (Em was a well known Ole Timer Baseball Pitcher who lived in Bellevue in Schenectady) and also her mother and father in law. Claudia attended Van Corlaer School and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and Empire State College. She was a proud NYS employee of 33 years as a Data Center Supervisor/Information Technology Specialist IV (Operations) in the Office of General Services and Office of Technology. Claudia sadly had to retire early due to her illness. Claudia always claimed she was very fortunate to have the job she very much loved! Claudia born and raised in Schenectady, bowledwith the Cup and Saucers Bowling League, the Morning Glories Bowling League at the Towne Bowling Lanes and the Juliet's Bowling League at Sportsman's Bowl. She served as Secretary for many years when playing with the Jolly Swingers Golf League on Monday mornings at Schenectady Muni. Claudia and Paul enjoyed many golf dates through the years, as they were introduced to one another because of their interest in golf. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Paul; an active Rotterdam Elk; a brother, Terry Battalino of New Hampshire, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Husband Paul, one of seven, added additional joy to her life with several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews located throughout the country. Calling hours will be held Thursday May 16 from 5 to 8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. A funeral service will be held Friday 11:30am at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Kings Rd. at Albany St. in Schenectady.
