Clara M (Martini) Buono

Schenectady - Clara M. Buono of Schenectady passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Glenville where she resided for the past 6 years. Born in Schenectady on April 23rd, 1918 she was just 3 weeks short of her 104th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Domenico and Caroline (Ruggieri) Martini. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School she worked in family owned restaurants before co-owning and managing Marty’s Bar on Crane Street in Schenectady with her son Martin for 34 years. She was also President of the Belvedere Club and chartered many yearly trips to Italy. In addition to her parents, Clara was also predeceased by her husband Dominick who died in 1984, her son Martin who died in 2005, and her siblings Lucy, Gaetano, Dante, Mario, Olga, Virginio, Gilda, and Lola. She is survived by her daughter Tina C. Tremante of Glenville, three grandchildren,Aaron Buono, Doria Tremante, and Molly Tremante, great granddaughter Angelina Kimble as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Saturday, April 9 th, 9 – 11 AM at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue Schenectady. A service will be held at the funeral home at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery on Brandywine Avenue in Schenectady. Clara’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice especially Jenny for all their support, and excellent service. Also, to the home health aides; Diane, Christine, Kathy, Natalia, and Evelyn for their dedication, patience and loving care of Clara. We are truly grateful.
