Christopher G. Goutos

October 5, 1931 — April 2, 2025

Christopher G. Goutos, DDS, 93 of Guilderland, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday April 2, 2025.

He was born in Schenectady on October 5, 1931 to the late Theodore and Zografia Goutos, who were immigrants from Greece.  He was predeceased by Anita, his beloved wife of 68 years; and by his brother, Peter G. Goutos, of Scotia.

Chris grew up in Schenectady and graduated from the former Mont Pleasant High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Siena College and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry.

During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army, where he was a Dental Technician from 1952 to 1954.  He continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1960.

Dr. Goutos practiced dentistry in Guilderland for 28 years. He opened his practice in 1960 and had a home office on Carman Road.  He was past president of the Schenectady County Dental Association.  He was a member of the Fourth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society and the American Dental Society.

Chris and his wife Anita were active members of the reunion committee for the former Mont Pleasant High School for many years.  He was also a member of the Siena College Alumni Association and the Georgetown University Alumni Association.

Chris played several sports in high school, but the sport he was most passionate about was basketball.  He received a basketball scholarship to attend Siena College.  Chris and Anita were loyal Siena Saints basketball fans, having season tickets for several decades.

Chris enjoyed playing golf and was one of the founding members of the Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland.  In his retirement years, he loved to ride his bike throughout the Kennewyck development, where he and his wife resided for 32 years.

Chris will be fondly remembered by his many friends in Bolton Landing, where since 1968 he spent his summers with his family at their home on Lake George. He enjoyed boating, fishing and evening campfires, especially with his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.  He will also be remembered by his friends at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where he spent his winters in retirement.

Chris is the devoted father of Theodore Goutos and his wife Mary of Lake Luzerne; Gregory Goutos and his wife Nellie of Englewood, FL; Christopher P. Goutos and his wife Heather of Guilderland; and Janet Lewis and her husband James of Malta.  He is the cherished grandfather of Kevin (Stephanie), Corrina, Timothy, Kathleen, Matthew and Emily. He is the great grandfather of Liam and Logan.  Chris is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 14th from 4 to 7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland.
