Christine (Depoalo) Pierce

Rotterdam – Christine Pierce, 64, passed away on Monday, June 19th 2017 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. Born in Schenectady, Chris was the daughter of the late Salvatore DePoalo and late Ruth (Friello) DePoalo. A graduate of Maria College with a degree in Early Childhood education, Chris worked for many years as a teacher assistant at Mohonasen High School and later as front office manager at Sampson’s Prosthetic Laboratory. To Chris, family was everything and came above all else. She loved to be in the kitchen, with her pot of coffee, cooking for her family. Sunday dinners were her specialty. Chris leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, Thomas J. Pierce, her loving children, Joe Pierce (Michelle), Kelly Petrucci (Jason), Nicole O’Rourke (Jeff) and Tommy Pierce and her 9 beloved grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Carmen DePoalo (Paula) and Phillip DePoalo (Carol) as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 4-7pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin promptly at 9am on Friday morning at the funeral home and will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions in Chris’s name may be made to Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
