Rotterdam - Charles P. Varga, 72, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021surrounded by his family. He was born in Ithaca, NY, to the late Joseph L Varga and Virginia (Beckwith) Varga. Chuck was a graduate of Southern Cayuga HS and a 1970 graduate of Clarkson University. He was a Civil Engineer, and spent his career with the NY State Department of Transportation. Chuckwas married to his loving wife MaryLou. Together they enjoyed travel, fine wines and dining, and riding steam engine trains. In their retirement years, Chuck and MaryLou moved from Jordan, NY to Schenectady, NY, and in this time Chuck most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, MaryLou (Palange) Varga; his son John of Atlanta, his son Jason and wife Mendy of Schenectady, and their children Julia and Mason; his brother George Varga and wife Rosemary of Rochester; his sister Betty Huggins and husband Jim of Venice Center; and 11 nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, 4-6 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. Contributions in memory of Chuck can be made to the Albany Medical Center Foundation.
