Wilton- Charles William Phillips Jr., 77, passed away on Monday, January 3. Born in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late Charles W. Phillips Sr. and Kathleen Dowling Phillips. He was married to Suzanne Basha Phillips for 39 years. Charles was a Priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese from 1970-1982 in both Little Falls and Latham. During this time, he was also a volunteer fireman in Latham for many years and a Fire Chaplain in the Town of Colonie. He then went on to be the Hospital Relations & NYS Participating Plans Coordinator for Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1984-2002. Most recently he worked at Hannaford Supermarket in Glenville, Rotterdam, and Saratoga for 17 years. He loved the outdoors and being in nature, whether he was hunting, hiking, riding his motorcycle, or just sitting outside. Charles would frequently vacation in Chincoteague, VA. He loved being near the beach and ocean and feeling the warm sun on his face. He also enjoyed a good wine paired with cheese. Above all he cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. Charles is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, his daughter Jennifer-Ann (Matthew) Salisbury of Burnt Hills, NY, his grandchildren; Makayla, Zachary, and Madelyn Salisbury of Burnt Hills, NY, his sister Anne (Ron) Wyjad of Newark, NY, his brother Paul (Deb) Phillips of Durham, NC, and many loving relatives and close friends, including Anne Doyne, Kris Ruff, Marilyn Johnson, and Ray Waldron. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Glenville, NY. Charles will be entombed at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY.
