Schenectady, NY. Charles Edward Farone, 90, passed away at Ellis Hospital on Sunday, August 3, 2025. A man whose life was defined by love, hard work, and dedication, Chuck leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Born on June 13, 1935, in Schenectady, to Dominick and Ethel Farone, Chuck was the second eldest of six children. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1953, and his early years were marked by a steady work ethic, from his time as a meat cutter in local markets to his role with the Metropolitan Insurance Company. But it was in masonry that Chuck truly found his passion, launching his own business in 1974 with his son, Charles M. Farone. For more than 40 years, he built not only structures, but deep connections in the community, proudly continuing to work with his son in the family business long after his official retirement.
Chuck was a man of integrity and generosity, always putting others first. For over 60 years, he shared his love of music with the Schenectady Electric City Chorus and several quartets, bringing joy to so many with his beautiful voice. A passionate piano player and football fan, Chuck found joy in the simple pleasures of life, always surrounded by those he loved.
Chucks greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband for 70 years to his beloved wife, Louise (Mell), with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and deep companionship. Together, they raised four children—Charles M. (Donna McDonnell), Gary, Karen Mestler (Jeff), and Lisa Agresta (John)—creating a loving family that has grown to include nine grandchildren: Michael (Kelly), Stephanie (Nick), Christina Yaple (Lyndon), Rachael, Damara, Valerie Suhadolnik, Anthony Agresta, Danielle Agresta (Shawn Whitaker), and Ryan Agresta, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his sisters Laverne Macejka, Lorraine Garret, and Donna Barrett. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister, Anna Angeline, and his brother, Dominic.
Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and the lessons he shared will remain in the hearts of his family forever.
