Pattersonville – Charles W. Alfree, 74, passed away at his home, exactly where he wanted to be, on Sunday, February 27th, 2022. Charlie was born in Schenectady, a son of the late James Raymond Alfree and Anna (Matula) Alfree. He was a graduate of Schalmont High School, where he played and excelled at football, and he attended Otero Junior College in Colorado for a short time. Charlie served in the US Navy, stationed in Spain, where he worked as a machinist on nuclear submarines and went on to work for over 30 years as a machinist at the General Electric Company. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, animals and in his younger years, going to the movies with his son, Michael and his buddies. Charlie brought happiness and support to many people throughout his life and he will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 49 years, Susan Fry Alfree; his daughter, June Diane Alfree; son, Michael Charles Alfree and his wife Sara Zappone-Alfree; his siblings, John Alfree, Suzanne Kingsley and Sandra Alfree as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by one brother, James Alfree. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 3-5pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam.
