In Loving Memory of Charlene M. Peek, a Devoted Mother and Beloved Grandmother.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlene M. Peek, a loving mother and grandmother who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Charlene passed away on Tuesday October 17, 2023, at the age of 73. Born and raised in Schenectady, NY, Charlene was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1968. She started her career at Schenectady County Department of Probation in 1979 and worked her way up to supervising the secretarial pool until her retirement in 2010. She was an avid Yankees and Neil Diamond fan and enjoyed playing bingo. For those that remember CB radios in the 70s, her call sign was “Little Red Apple” as her father used to tell her she was the apple of his eye. She had a special place in her heart for dogs and shared it with her family, and her home was always filled with the laughter and warmth they brought. She is now reunited with the many animals she loved throughout the years. She will be forever known as Gigi to her great grand fur babies Bella Rose, Lacey, and Sora.

She will be missed by her family: son Robert Kwiatkowski and his wife Mary Ann, son William Kwiatkowski, son Christopher Peek and his wife Jessica; grandchildren, Cameron (Meghan), Brianna (Tommy), Caitlyn, Michael, and Castiel Joseph “CJ”; and her brother O’Neill Fountain. She was lovingly called Aunt Char by her numerous nieces and nephews. Many friends including her longtime close friend Mel Fazzio called her Char. Charlene was predeceased by her parents, O’Neill and Elaine Malo Fountain; brothers, Joseph and Ernest Fountain; and sister, Patricia E. Wiley. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her medical care providers including the dedicated medical staff at Ellis Hospital ER, ICU, and Pulmonary Unit and her HHAs Barb Kane and Alissa Foote who provided exceptional care and support throughout our mother's brave battle. Their unwavering commitment and compassion offered comfort during a challenging time. Charlene's legacy lives on through the love and memories she leaves behind, the family she cherished, and the family pets she adored. Her kindness, wisdom, and love will forever be remembered and celebrated. Her grandchildren will miss hearing her favorite phrase “I love you a bushel and a peck. A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday October 24th from 10am to 12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady.
