Rotterdam – Cesidio “Sid” DiMascio, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Saranac Lake, NY, Sid was the son of the late Patrick and Angela (Tagliaferro) DiMascio. Sid graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and the College of St. Rose. A member of the GE Quarter Century Club, Sid worked in many capacities throughout General Electric, retiring as a supervisor in the Steam Turbine Department. Sid was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Tribes Hill Fish and Game Club, enjoying hunting and fishing whenever he could. Throughout Sid’s life he loved music, specifically playing the accordion in his band, the Four Sounds. For 14 years, Sid, along with his wife, Fran, called Ormond Beach, FL home. While there they enjoyed socializing with their friends and their family members who came to visit. Once returning to the area, Sid and Fran became members of Open Arms Church. Sid’s compassionate heart and sense of humor spread joy to all who were around him. Above all things in life, Sid loved his family and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, Sid was also predeceased by one grandchild, Esme DiMascio. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 55 years, Frances “Fran” (Greco) DiMascio, his children, Gina Bryan (Keith), Patrick DiMascio (Antoinette) and Dayna D’Ambrosio (Carlo), his 14 grandchildren, Renee, Aimee, Marissa, Kimberly, Troy, Dallas, Layla, Rusty, Michael, Joseph, Edward, Rosa, Sophia and Mia and 2 great grandchildren, Emmanuel and Eva. He also leaves behind his brother and friend, Anthony DiMascio (Sandra) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 28th from 9:30-11am at Open Arms Church, 2714 Curry Road in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin at 11:30am at the church. Interment will follow at Schenectady Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Sid’s memory to Open Arms Church at the address above.
