Temecula, California-Casimir J."Cas" Hyrny, 82, died December 18, 2014 Cas was born in Utica, N.Y. , the son of Casimir Joseph and Eleanor Olga (Knickerbocker) Hyrny. Still in his youth, Cas and family moved to Glens Falls. He later moved to Schenectady where he attended Vocational High. After serving in the Army National Guard, Cas joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War.After completion of his training as a Radar Operator, Cas was stationed in Knoxville, Tennessee and later Misawa, Japan. He attained the rank of Airman First Class. After the service, Cas returned to Schenectady and worked a short time with Niagara Mohawk and the S & H Green Stamp Store before joining the Schenectady Police Dept in 1955, where he served his community as a Patrolman until 1963. Cas and family moved to Southern California and he began employment with the Security Division of Hughes Aircraft Company; his employment continued for 26 years retiring as a Sergeant in 1988. His activities at Hughes included:Patrolman, Training Sergeant and Ambulance Driver/EMT. Cas was the co-founder and first President of the Hughes Aircraft Co. Security Officers Union. Simultaneous with his employment, Cas continued his education; obtaining his Associates Degree from El Camino Collegeand his B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State, L.A.After retiring and moving to Temecula, CA. he enjoyed membership with the Elks Lodge 2801 and Lifetime membership with the VFW Post 4089; also serving for a time as treasurer of the local AARP. Some of Cas' fondest memories centered around his time stationed in Japan; living on or near the Los Angeles South Bay Beaches duringthe 1960's;trips across country and up the California Coast with family and to visit family and many memorable vacations taken with Paula to Mexico and various countries around the world. Cas is survived by his companion of over forty years, Paula Delgado; his children, Casimir Michael (Katharine) Hyrny, Timothy Joseph (Anita Guerra) Hyrny, Kathleen AnnHyrny Ferragu (Jean -Paul Ferragu) , DeborahScibelli, Susan (Daniel) Hardcastle; brother of Richard M. Hyrny, Cass (Karen)Hyrny, Bruce Hyrny and the late Raymond M. (Roze) Hyrny and Frances Greene; his grandchildren,Christian M. and Gabrielle Hyrny, Sgt. Grant A. Sabatino USMC and Jessie T. Sabatino, James (Christine), Heather(Nick) Calcagno and Elizabeth Scibelli, Sean and Nicholas Mejias. Cas is also survived by a great- grandson, Thomas Scibelli andnumerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A calling period will be held Monday, December 29 from 5 to 7:30pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. The public is also invited to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held Tuesday, 10am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1911 Fairview Ave., Schenectady.Burial with military honors will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
