Carolyn Eggleston-Sturn-Parente, 81, passed away on Thursday September 7, 2023. Carolyn grew up in Albany and graduated from VI (Vincentian Institute) which was in Albany. After school, Carolyn worked as a long distance telephone operator for a period of time. She went to work for the Boston Store and then went back to working as a long distance telephone operator until she retired at 55. She was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was involved with Guilderhaven animal rescue. Carolyn loved to read and had a huge variety of books and was known to re-read them from time to time. She loved her grandkids and her rescue pitbull, Ruby.
Carolyn is survived by her sister Patricia (the late Ernie) Buschmann; her children Linda Sturn, Nancy (Jerry) Johnson, Jack (Sheryl) Sturn and Peter (Amy Walker) Sturn; 7 grandkids, Alex (Shelby) Johnson, Kassidy Sturn, Kelsey (Adam) Reif, Becca Sturn, Ben (Rachel DeCresci) Johnson, Jacob (Brooke Budway) Sturn and Kalvin Corbett; and 5 great grandchildren, Max, Colin, Brooklyn, Oliver and Sloane. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Josephine Eggleston.
The family would like to give thanks to all on the Fatima Unit at Our Lady of Mercy Life Care Center. Over the years Carolyn was given wonderful care and the support she needed there.
Carolyn has been privately cremated. Memorial calling hours will be on Thursday September 14th from 11:30am to 1pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home at 5216 Western Tpke, Guilderland NY. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels on Central Avenue, Albany. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Carolyn to Guilderhaven, Inc, 6655 Route 158 Altamont NY 12009 and Out of the Pits at http://OutofthePits.org or any other animal shelter.
