Duanesburg - Carolee Joan Russell, 81, of Duanesburg, NY passed away on Saturday Nov. 19, 2022, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a short illness with her loving daughter, son in-law and grandchildren by her side. She was born on October 21st, 1941, in Schenectady, NY and was the daughter of the late Thomas Clune and Eva May Zautner. Carolee was a graduate of Linton High School, and after graduating she went on to earn her nursing degree. Carolee worked at Albany County Nursing Home as an LPN until her retirement. Carolee enjoyed many adventures, especially camping with her companion of 30 years, Norman Montross and loved spending time in the Saranac Lake region. Most important to Carolee was her love of family and her friendship she cherished with her childhood friend Audrey Taylor. Carolee cherished the special times she spent with her great grandchildren, and she would light up whenever they would visit from their house right next door. She loved feeding our backyard birds which of course attracted the occasional unwanted wildlife. Carolee was a very loving and giving person who loved spending time with her family, and she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Carolee’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Albany Medical Center’s B2 ICU for their compassionate care not only for Carolee’s needs but for our family’s needs during a most difficult time. Carolee was predeceased by her Sister Holly Mayer, her Son Daren Russell, and her companion of 30 years, Norman Montross. She is survived by her Daughter Jerilyn DeNofio (Ralph). She is also survived by her grandsons Darren DeNofio (Alissa) and Christopher DeNofio (Danielle), Great Grandsons Parker Croote, Preston Croote, Ryan DeNofio and Gavin DeNofio, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 11 am Monday at the funeral home with burial following at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
