Carol E (Peek) Dalpe

Rotterdam -Carol Peek Dalpe was carried home by the angels to be with her husband, Richard Dalpe, and family on August 10 at the young age of 76. Carol was the middle one of five children, Arnold (deceased), Joan, Dottie (deceased) and Shirley, born in Schenectady on October 22, 1940 to Arnold and Jane Peek. Carol will be remembered for her love of family and friends and for her compassionate and caring manner. Her perpetual smile, quick wit, infectious laughter and embracing hugs would evoke the same endearing response from all those around her. Her passion for gardening is a reflection of the color, joy and beauty she brought to the lives of all those she has touched. The courage, grace and dignity she maintained with her smile, laughter and wit throughout her illness taught those near that life should be lived to the fullest with laughter and love and was a moving inspiration to us all. Her wish is that there be no tears at her service, but the deep heartfelt sound of laughter. She is a caregiver in God’s gardens now. In addition to caring for family and friends, Carol’s 39-year career as a health care aid earned her the accolades of employee of the year for both Kingsway Arms and Nurse Connection. She also served as a health care aid with Rely and provided private duty care as well. Carol is survived by her six children (“You know who you are…”), Debra (Mark) Kruszona, John Matarazzo, Anthony Matarazzo, Joe (Robin) Matarazzo, Sherry (Ed) Harasiemowicz, Richard (Amy) Dalpe; five grandchildren, Brianna, Mariah, Eddie, Harry, Hanna; two sisters Joan and Shirley; many nieces and nephews; two beloved maine coon cats, Lucky and Missy; and her BFFF Clementina “Clem” Carlin. The family wishes to thank the Rexford Cancer Center and the Hospice in-home team for their care, support and attention in the most difficult times. A prayer service will begin 8 pm Monday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Calling hours will precede the service from 6-8 pm. Carol will be buried with her husband at Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
