Schenectady- CarmineCalafiore, 76,passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 25, 2014. Born in Naples, Italy, December 6, 1937, Carmine was the son of the late Ciro and Vincenza (Castellano) Calafiore. Carmine was extremely proud to be the patriarch of his family. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Carmine never met a stranger; or they were not a stranger for long with Carmine. He was known for his social personality. He had a special place in his heart for music. He loved singing, going to the ocean, playing cards, gardening and soccer. Carmine retired after over 25 years of service at General Electric. Carmine is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Rita (Polsinelli) Calafiore; daughters, Patricia Craig (Vern Perkins), Vincenza Nanci (Nick) and Mary Calafiore; grandchildren, Christopher, Anthony, Jacqueline, Andrew, Domenico, and Mathew; great grandchildren, Isabella and Josephine. Carmine is also survived by his brother, Ciro Calafiore; sisters, Anna Fuschi, Immacolata Mela, Annunziata Fontanella; sister-in-law Elena D'Orazio; brothers-in-law, Mario, Vincent, John, Vito, and Donato Polsinelli; and many nieces and nephews. Carmine is predeceased by his sisters, Maria Russo, Giovanna Mancino and brothers, Pasquale and Antonio; brothers-in-law, Antonio and Samuel Polsinelli. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Wednesday 8 am at the funeral home, followed at 9 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1260 Pleasant St.,Schenectady. Burial will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
