Carmen M (Francisco) Mazzacua

July 15, 1921 — December 7, 2016

Schenectady – Mrs. Carmen Mazzacua (Francisco), died peacefully in her home on December 7, 2016 in Schenectady, NY at the age of 95. She is survived by her sons Mark Mazzacua and his wife Patty along with stepson Dylan of Summerville, SC and Nicholas Mazzacua of Schenectady, NY, grandson, Jarrett Hess of Schenectady, NY, a brother, Manuel (Charlotte) Francisco, and her nephews, William, Jeffrey and John Francisco and a niece Lenore Francisco. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicholas, her parents Leonor and Abdon Francisco and her brother Mariano Francisco. She was born on July 15, 1921 in Torrington, CT and moved to Schenectady when she was a young girl. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in The Honor Society she went to work at General Electric as a secretary. After her marriage to Nick she stayed at home raising their family. Her children remember her as the most loving, caring and giving mother and feel blessed to be raised with her love. She did go back to work at The Rotterdam Senior Center in the 1980's and worked briefly as a secretary helping her brother, Manuel Francisco, an eye doctor. She was proud of her many, many wonderful years with The Schenectady Melodears under leadership of her friend, Anne Nolte. Carmen made many friends who joined her on her famous “Carmen's Caravans” to Atlantic City enjoying the casinos and the Boardwalk there. An avid lover of Bingo, she would be found at The Rotterdam Senior Center every week when she was driving to enjoy her Bingo Games. Carmen always had a smile and enjoyed going to the casinos every chance she'd get. Even two weeks prior to her passing she made it to The Saratoga Racino one more time. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing hours or funeral. In the future there will be a small graveside service for friends and family where she will be laid to rest with her husband and parents. The Family would like to thank Landmark Care, Dr. Gupta's Office, and Carmen's Aides: Aliesha, Jessica, Sherry and Katrina for all their care and dedication to her welfare. She loved them all. A promise to her – She wanted to leave you all with these last words: “Carmen says keep smiling!”
