Carmella Sterlina Ligato

Carmella Sterlina Ligato, formerly of Clyde Ave. in Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Glendale Nursing Home, she was 91. Born in Schenectady, Carmella graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1944. She worked for several years at General Electric and Carl Co. but was a Homemaker most of her life. She was a longtime member of the former Our Lady of the Assumption Church, now Our Lady Queen of Peace. Carmella was predeceased by her beloved husband Angelo Ligato, who died in 2009, her parents, Pasquale and Anna Malgieri Sterlina, her brother; Frank Sterlina and sister in law Shirley Sterlina. She is survived by her sister; Angela “Mary” McGillin and her husband John of Niskayuna as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, 10 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Rd. in Rotterdam. Burial will follow at St’s Cyril & Method Cemetery.
