Carmelina (Grasso) Colwell

Rotterdam - Carmelina Colwell, 52, of Rotterdam, New York, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 22, 2022. She fought a long courageous battle with cancer. She is now at peace within the Garden of God. Carmelina is survived by her husband, Jason Colwell. She also is survived by her beloved mother, Bruna Grasso and her siblings, Nicola Grasso, Domenick (Deanna) Grasso, Elisabetta Hartz (Matthew) and Rossano Grasso, In-laws Douglas and Patricia Colwell, nieces and nephews Julia, Michael, Nicholas, Dominick and Zachary. She is survived by her aunt Antoinette Dell’Veneri and three cousins. She also is survived by two aunts, one uncle and four cousins in Italy. Carmelina was predeceased by her father Luigino Grasso Carmelina worked for many years at Trustco Bank before she became owner, proprietor and bookkeeper of her and her husband's locally owned business. Carmelina was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She volunteered for numerous activities within the Church. She was a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Woman’s Society. She and her husband enjoyed taking drives in their Corvette with members of the Corvette Club. She also loved to socialize at one of her favorite spots - Bagels and Bakes in Rotterdam. Carmelina loved to cook, bake, and entertain family and friends. She loved her mother and her brothers and sister dearly. She adored and spoiled her nieces and nephews. Her life was dedicated to God and doing his work to help others. Viewing hours are at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home on Wednesday July 27, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, New York 12306. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 28, 2022 at 10:00am at Our Lady Of Mt Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant Street, Schenectady, New York 12303 In lieu of flowers, Carmelina’s family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
