Carmela Komes (Nuzzaco) Marchesani

April 12, 1919 — January 26, 2013

Schenectady - Carmela (Nuzzaco) Komes Marchesani, age 93, died peacefully at Cape Regency, Centerville on January 26, 2013 in the arms of her daughter, Kathy. Carmela lived all of her life in Schenectady New York and moved to Cape Cod in 2010 to be closer to her daughter. Born on April 12, 1919 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Philomena (Adinofi) and Guiseppe Nuzzaco; She was the sister of Dominic Nuzzaco, Anne Bufano, Mary Mastroianni, Antoinette Picciano and Gaetano (Tom) Nuzzaco, Josephine Golembeck and Daniel Nuzzaco, all who predeceased her.Carmela was also predeceased by her first husband, John Komes and their daughter Kristina and her second husband, Arthur (Don) Marchesani. Carmela's expertise was shopping as testified by all who knew her.She loved it and was always ready to go.She was especially fond of anything that glittered.In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling and was very proud of her "hole in one" when she played golf.But above all else, she loved spending time with her family and lifelong friends. Carmela is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Komes Luckhurst Catania and her husband Steven.Four Grandchildren Corinne Luckhurst, Thomas Luckhurst and his wife Tracie, Bethany Catania and her husband Chad Holbert and Michael Catania and his wife Aissa; six great grandchildren, Sarah, Meghan, Tyler, Trevor, Alexia, and Trentand several nieces, nephews and special friends. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-6:30 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Burial will follow at St. Cyril's Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of Cape Regency and Hope Hospice for their kindness and concern during this past year.For those wishing to do so, a donation in Carmela's name can be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601 Carmela, her sense of style, sense of humor, and love of her family will be missed.
